3. Confirmation

On Sunday 28th October Archbishop Peter confirmed  six boys from our parish.  The church was beautifully decorated, and the choir provided the perfect musical accompaniment. The parents and other parishioners prepared the hall and the Archbishop and Father Philip joined the boys, their families and friends for a reception.  Unusually the group was made up of six boys only and they started their preparations in June and attended monthly three hour sessions. The sessions were run by three catechists and Father Henry. The boys participated fully in the interactive  sessions and were given materials which it is hoped will help them in their lives as committed members of the Catholic church. We look forward to them participating in parish activities.

Confirmation takes place on alternate years. Those age 12 or above who attend Mass can register.

Baptism, the Eucharist and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the sacraments of Christian initiation, whose unity must be safeguarded. The reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For by the sacrament of Confirmation the baptised are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. (CCC1285)
