Couples for Christ began in 1981 in the Philipines when a local Christian community tried a new approach to evangalizing married couples. The method used consisted of bringing together a small group of prospective couples in a private home. These were brought to a living relationship with Jesus Christ through a series of weekly informal discussions of the gospel in a social setting.

The CFC International Couple Director, Frank and Geri Padilla, are part of the Vatican Pontfical Council for family life.
